Setter Breeding Program: Uncompromising Standards

We believe that great grouse dogs are produced by design, not accident. We Started with 11X Ch. Tekoa Mountain Sunrise -- the greatest setter in modern history -- and blended in the three best female lines crossed with him: 4X Ch. Miss Mona, 3X Ch. Crockett's New Horizon, and Sandhill Sheba.  All of these dogs trace directly to the most influential modern setter female, Mac's Kelly Patrick. We are now in our fourth and fifth generation of breeding dogs from these bloodlines that have proven to produce class grouse dogs.

Our breeding program is based on rigorous selection for disposition, conformation, and performance. We do not breed any dog unless it proves its mettle on grouse and can be completely finished. We do not compromise on traits such as great noses, natural staunchness, easy handling, a desire to hunt for you, speed and power under tough conditions, and breathtaking style.

The result is that you can be sure that the puppy or dog you buy from us comes from generations of selective breeding for the traits you are seeking. All of our dogs are 100% guaranteed to be healthy, free from genetic defects of any kind that would impair performance, to possess a strong desire to hunt and point, and to have a good nose.

In memory of Passenger's Blue Shadow

(Ch. Lookout Mickey x Ch. Miss Mona),

who played a key role in our Breeding

Program. Blue was a great one on grouse,

woodcock, wild quail and pheasants,

huns, and, in this photo, sharptails.

Our fountainhead is 11X Ch. Tekoa

Mountain Sunrise. "Jack", as he was

called, was the greatest performing setter

in the past 20 years. He also is the

all-time leading setter producer of field

trial winners and champions, and has been

elected to the Field Trial Hall of Fame.
